The president in charge of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, addressed the nation in the early hours of June 25, 2026 and declared a state of emergency after the two earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 that shook the country the day before. Measures of the state of emergency

Rodríguez reported that the General Staff will be activated, made up of several officials from his Government, including the sectoral vice president Diosdado Cabello. Immediate decisions include:

  • Suspension of classes for the remaining days of the current week.
  • Paralysis of activities that are not essential services.
  • Activation of the public and private health system, with emphasis on the areas hardest hit by the earthquake.

The president in charge thanked the support of countries such as Mexico, Colombia and the United States, among others, which, she said, offered help to Venezuela. MARGENEZ has not independently verified the scope or formal acceptance of those offers.
