This is not a government list or a political manifesto: an editorial record to learn who they are — voices for freedom in Cuba, inside and outside the island.
One section covers voices in exile — released or expelled opponents and also hosts or influencers who denounce the regime from abroad; another, those who remain in Cuba: marches, social media and independent journalism despite repression. MARGENEZ does not handle asylum or immigration paperwork: we document with verified sources and credit every image.

Leader of the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPAC) and political prisoner since the 11J protests. Left Cuba in October 2025 under an agreement that sent him directly to Florida with his family.

Prisoner of conscience since December 2020 for a peaceful protest with a placard. Released in 2025 and arrived in Madrid that October with his mother and son, where he requested political asylum.

Playwright and leader of the Archipiélago platform. Called the civic march of November 15, 2021; left Cuba the next day and received political asylum in Spain in 2022 after months of harassment and surveillance at his home.

Detained at 22 for protesting in Jovellanos during 11J and sentenced to six years at La Bellotex. Arrived in Miami in May 2026 on a State Department humanitarian visa after nearly five years in prison and the condition that her mother Annia Zamora leave Cuba first.

Lady in White sentenced in 2018 to one year and four months in prison. She fell ill in jail without adequate medical care; received early release in August 2019 and reached Miami in January 2020 on a U.S. government humanitarian visa for treatment.

Lady in White and Cuba Decides activist. After more than eight years in prison, the regime took her in August 2025 straight from jail to the airport on condition she leave the country; she arrived in Santo Domingo with her husband and two daughters, unable to say goodbye to her eldest daughter.

Cuban-American actor and host. He emigrated in 2003 on a residence visa — not through release or humanitarian parole — and in 2017 launched Hola Ota-Ola!, a daily social-media show mixing entertainment and regime criticism. A media voice of the diaspora; his role here is as a broadcaster, not a political prisoner.

Leader of the Ladies in White movement since 2011. Every Sunday she tries to march for political prisoners' freedom; the regime frequently detains her, besieges her home and the group's headquarters. She posts denunciations on Facebook about repression, arrests and cordons — including on 11J anniversaries.
11J denunciation (CiberCuba)
Psychologist, independent journalist and dissident known as "El Coco". More than 20 hunger strikes, eleven years in prison and European Parliament Sakharov Prize (2010). He remains in Cuba denouncing censorship and regime repression.

Economist and the only woman in the 2003 Black Spring. She reached Miami in February 2025 on a humanitarian visa for kidney failure and diabetes; in May she returned to Cuba despite the regime: "They bet I would stay in the United States, but they know very well I am not staying."

Philologist, blogger and founder of the digital newspaper 14ymedio. Ortega y Gasset Prize and a reference for independent journalism in Cuba. She remains in Havana despite detentions, police cordons at her home and the state blockade of the outlet.

Independent reporter in Havana. She documents protests, blackouts and repression on social media; in March 2026 she was detained in Jaimanitas after a pot-banging protest over power cuts. ICLEP and other outlets have denounced intimidating summons and express arrests against her and her husband, journalist Frank Correa.
