It's here. After weeks of speculation about prices and editions, Grand Theft Auto VI opened its official pre-orders on Wednesday, June 25, 2026 at midnight in each time zone. In PlayStation Store the two digital editions for PS5 already appear: the standard one at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99, with active pre-order button.

Editions available on PlayStation Store (US)
Editing Price Includes
Grand Theft Auto VI (standard) $79.99 Base game + Vintage Vice City Pack + 1 month GTA+ (digital pre-order)
Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition $99.99 All of the above + premium vehicles, weapons, clothing and action in Jason and Lucia's story
Ultimate Edition Upgrade To be confirmed in store For those who buy the standard version and want to upgrade later

How to pre-order on PlayStation Store

The Rockstar category page on the PS Store lists both editions with Pre-Order status. The standard edition has its own file at this link. The process is the usual: log in with your PSN account, choose edition, confirm payment and receive the charge at the time of reservation (not at launch). Sony confirms in the sheet that the digital purchase includes the game on PS5 and that the preload will be available from November 12.

If you pre-ordered the countdown to the June 18 announcement, today is the day: select digital stores and physical retailers activate pre-orders at the same time, according to Polygon and BBC News.

Prices: $80 as new AAA standard

Rockstar sets the list price at $79.99 for the base edition – in line with the trend of Nintendo and other publishers that already place blockbusters around $70–80 – and $99.99 for the Ultimate. Polygon points out that the industry observed this figure as a reference for future AAA releases; Millions of players will pay it anyway for the sequel to the best-selling title in history.

The Ultimate Edition adds an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, outfits and action content integrated into Jason and Lucia's campaign. Rockstar also allows you to purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately if you purchase the standard version first, according to Rectify Gaming.

Bonuses: Vintage Vice City Pack and GTA+

Any purchase or reservation made before November 20, 2026 includes the Vintage Vice City Pack: retro cosmetics inspired by the neon Vice City of the 80s. On PlayStation Store, digital pre-orders add a free month of GTA+, Rockstar's membership service for GTA Online and benefits in the VI universe. The subscription renews at the usual monthly price unless cancelled; The redemption must be made before March 31, 2027 in the account you booked with.

PS5: why Sony insists it "plays better" here

One day before opening reservations, PlayStation.Blog published a post signed by Mary Yee (SIE) highlighting the collaboration with Rockstar: DualSense with haptic vibration and adaptive triggers, integrated controller speaker, Tempest 3D AudioTech for Leonida's soundscape and high-speed SSD for almost instantaneous loading. It's platform marketing, but it confirms that the PS5 version takes advantage of exclusive Sony hardware.

Diskless physical: download code only

Surprising detail: the physical edition of GTA 6 will not include a disc, but rather a download code inside the box, according to Rockstar and media such as Polygon. For those who prefer tangible support, the box will be collectible; the game itself will be 100% digital.
