YouTube Premium and Peacock join forces in the most ambitious streaming agreement of the year in the United States. This Monday, July 27, 2026, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan announced in X that, starting from 2027YouTube Premium subscribers in the US will receive Peacock Premium included in their membership. The pact with NBCUniversal —confirmed by YouTube, Variety and CNBC—marks the largest wholesale distribution deal in Peacock's history.
What Neal Mohan announced
In his post, Mohan wrote that the agreement expands the collaboration with NBCUniversal on three fronts: benefits for YouTube Premium members, extension of the YouTube TV distribution agreement and access to live sports and Peacock series without leaving YouTube.
According to the official YouTube blog, signed by business director Mary Ellen Coe, the goal is to “redefine what a modern entertainment subscription can be”: combining creators, music and video without ads YouTube with NBCUniversal's premium catalog.
“We are incredibly excited to expand our partnership with NBCUniversal […] YouTube Premium brings your favorite creators, artists and cultural moments together seamlessly, and now we're pairing it with Peacock's extensive offering: live sports like Sunday Night Football and the NBA, blockbuster Universal movies and original series.”
— Neal Mohan, CEO of YouTube (Variety)
What exactly does the bundle include
Coming in 2027 is Peacock Premium, the ad-supported version of the streamer (currently $10.99/month separately). Includes:
- Live sports: NFL (Sunday Night Football), NBA, Olympic events and more
- Universal movies: franchises like Minions, box office releases
- Original and NBC/Bravo series: Love Island USA, Law & Order: SVU, Real Housewives, Saturday Night Live
- Telemundo Content (including 2026 World Cup in Spanish on Peacock)
The technical key: Peacock will not be just a discount coupon. According to CNBC, Peacock content will be integrated within YouTube — users won't have to switch apps to watch it. There will be an option to upgrade to Peacock Premium Plus ($16.99/month, with limited ads) as a higher tier.
What you already had on YouTube Premium remains: YouTube without ads, background playback, offline downloads and YouTube Music.
Prices: what we know and what we don't
Variety highlighted that the price of the new bundle has not yet been announced, although YouTube assured that the current cost of YouTube Premium in the US —$15.99/month in the plan individual and $27 for family—will not change when Peacock goes live in 2027.
That does not prevent future increases: YouTube already raised prices in June 2026 (Engadget). On social networks, many users—like those who responded to Variety's tweet—suspect that the bundle will be the excuse for a new increase later. For now, the company promises "more offers and options" to customize the plan.
In market value, including Peacock Premium “for free” represents a theoretical savings of ~$11/month (Engadget puts the annual plan at $110). Peacock Premium Plus is now available as a separate subscription on YouTube Primetime Channels from the end of June 2026 (YouTube Blog).
What arrives before 2027
You don't have to wait a whole year to see movement:
- This summer (2026): Peacock Premium as add-on on YouTube Primetime Channels
- Now available: Peacock Premium Plus on Primetime Channels (from June 29)
- Free sports on YouTube: selection of live events on the NBC Sports YouTube channel
- International: bundles with Universal+ and Hayu in select markets (outside the US)

The agreement goes beyond the bundle
The multi-year pact includes several additional components collected by CNBC and Variety:
- YouTube TV: extension of NBCUniversal network distribution agreement (last renewed in October 2025)
- Xfinity / Xumo: YouTube, YouTube TV and Premium remain on Comcast platforms
- Advertising: technological collaboration with FreeWheel to monetize ads for Peacock content within YouTube
- Sports Production: NBC Sports as production partner for select live events on YouTube
According to CNBC, negotiations began about nine months ago when Comcast co-CEO Brian Roberts contacted Mohan. After a meeting at Google's offices, both teams designed the comprehensive package.
Context: Peacock at its best
The timing is not coincidental. Peacock, launched in July 2020, posted its first quarterly profit in Q2 2026 with 48 million paying subscribers (+2 million net in the quarter), according to Variety. NBCUniversal seeks to scale without depending only on its own app.
In parallel, Comcast plans to spin off NBCUniversal (along with the UK's Sky) into an independent company around mid-2027. Mike Cavanagh, current co-CEO of Comcast, will lead the new entity. This agreement with YouTube reinforces the value of the catalog before the spin-off.
Does this affect users outside the US?
Not directly. The Peacock + YouTube Premium bundle announced today is only for the United States. YouTube mentions plans for international bundles with Universal+ and Hayu, but without specific dates or countries. Peacock as a service remains primarily American.
Conclusion
YouTube and NBCUniversal are betting on the super-subscription: a single fee for social video, music, live sports and studio catalog. For the YouTube Premium user in the US, the move may be a bargain if the price stays at $15.99. For the market, it confirms that streamers no longer compete only for their own subscribers, but rather to integrate into larger platforms — with YouTube as the new cable of the 21st century.
