Spotify Reserved: tickets saved for Premium superfans — how it works, countries and prices

The Reserved era started on June 18, 2026 in the USA with ROLE MODEL and Ticketmaster: Spotify identifies the most loyal listeners, reserves up to two tickets for them for one day and notifies them by email and push. No extra fees from Spotify; Prices according to location and seat.

Reserved by Spotify is the platform's bet to turn streaming into real access to concerts: instead of fighting in a general blind sale, Spotify identifies the most loyal listeners of an artist, saves them up to two tickets on the tour and opens a personal purchasing window (usually one day) before the rest of the public comes into play. The program was presented on May 21, 2026 at Investor Day; On June 18 it began operating in the United States, with ROLE MODELas the first artist to use it. Three days later, Spotify confirmed on X that "the Reserved era is already underway" and shared reactions from fans who received the offer.

What Spotify announced on X

The thread began on June 18 with the message «Our first Reserved tour is here» (@Spotify): tickets for a date on the ROLE MODEL tour, with an invitation to activate notifications because «you could be "next". In a second post they linked to the program's landing page. On June 20, Spotify published that "The Reserved era is officially underway" (120K views in a few hours) and showed screenshots of excited fans receiving the notice on their mobile — the kind of social proof that the company wants to associate with the product.

How Reserved works step by step

According to the official guide and the help center, the flow is this:

  1. Silent selection. Spotify analyzes signals such as plays, saves, shares and location (without publishing the exact formula, to avoid artificial "farming"). Only a fraction of superfans receive an offer: there are many more intense listeners than Reserved seats.
  2. Multi-channel notice. If you are eligible, you will see the offer on the Home, in "Your Updates", by email and push, as well as on the artist page, search, Live Events Feed and the Now Playing view.
  3. Purchase window (~24 hours). When your window opens, you press “Buy now” and choose up to two tickets for any eligible date on the tour — you're not tied to just the nearest city.
  4. Ticketmaster. You complete the payment in Ticketmaster. It is a good idea to link Spotify and Ticketmaster first to verify frictionless Reserved access. At highly in-demand shows there may be a virtual queue, but Spotify keeps two tickets reserved for you throughout the window.
  5. If you do not purchase. Unclaimed tickets are passed on to the next group of eligible fans, with the same notification system, while supplies last.

«You show up for the artist, Spotify shows up for you. You purchase through the artist's ticketing partner, with no added fees from Spotify.»

ROLE MODEL: the first Reserved tour

ROLE MODEL (Tucker Pillsbury) premiered Reserved on his Chuck on Tour, in support of Chuck Timely & The Hourglass(Interscope, August 7, 2026). The North American leg kicks off on September 9 in Bend, Oregon, and runs 26 dates to Berkeley on October 18, with Samia as the opening act, according to Billboard. In 2027 it continues through Europe from Berlin (February 11).

Sales calendar for ROLE MODEL (local time):

  • Jun 23, 2026, 10:00 — Mastercard and American Airlines pre-sales
  • Jun 23, 2026, 12:00Spotify Reserved (fans selected by Spotify, not open to all Premium)
  • Jun 24, 2026, 10:00 — artist pre-sale (heyrolemodel.com/tour)
  • Jun 26, 2026, 10:00 — general sale on Ticketmaster

ROLE MODEL posted a video explaining that Reserved sets aside tickets "to ensure real fans have access," in line with Spotify and Live Nation's anti-selling and anti-bot discourse.

In which countries is it available?

Today, only in the United States. Both the Investor Day announcement and the June 18 guide repeat it: “starting in the U.S., with more markets to follow.” There is no public list of upcoming countries or dates. If you don't live in the US, you can't receive a Reserved offer even if you have Premium in another region — the program also filters by location for tour dates.

Reserved is only for music artists (not podcasts) and for specific tours agreed with Live Nation and Ticketmaster. Spotify already works with more than 40 ticketing partners around the world, but Reserved kicks off with this exclusive agreement in the US market.

How much does it cost?

Spotify does not charge an extra fee for Reserved: you pay the ticket price on Ticketmaster plus the usual venue and ticketing partner fees. There is no fixed price: it depends on the city, the date, the area of the venue and what is available when you go in to buy.

According to official support, Reserved usually offers several price brackets (stalls, stands, etc.), but does not guarantee that all options will remain available if other fans buy earlier within their own window. Reserved tickets are primary sale — you cannot use the program to repurchase resale tickets. Add-ons such as VIP or parking depend on each event and are not guaranteed.

How to maximize your options

  • Turn on notifications for concerts and live events on Spotify.
  • Set your location in the Live Events Feed.
  • Link Spotify ↔ Ticketmaster before your window opens.
  • Listen, save and share the artist genuinely — Spotify monitors bot activity and penalizes artificial accounts.
  • If you lose the email, search for the artist in the app: while the reservation is active, a banner appears in the events tab.

What it means for Spotify and Live Nation

Reserved fits into Spotify's live strategy: the company says it has driven more than $1.5 billion in ticket sales for artists with tools like Concerts Near You, Venue Search and cross-marketing. With Live Nation and Ticketmaster it gains a differential compared to Apple Music or YouTube: rewarding intense listening with preferential access, not just recommending concerts.

For the fan, the promise is clear: if you are one of those who really supports an artist in streaming, you have a fairer path than resale or the massive bot in the general sale. For the artist, it is a way to fill the room with an audience who already knows each song. The first real test — the reactions that Spotify celebrated on June 20 — suggests that the mechanic generates hype; The litmus test will be whether the system scales to more tours without frustrating the millions of Premiums who do not receive an offer.
