«Superestrella» by Aitana returns to the Spotify Global Top after the World Cup: its best global position (#69)

Published on May 30, 2025 in Cuarto Azul, the song became the unofficial anthem of La Roja and added its first Top 200 Global more than a year later: #4 in Spain, #8 in Mexico and a rising record after the final.

«Superestrella» did not need a lightning premiere to demonstrate that it was one of the most important songs of the last year in Spain. Published on May 30, 2025 as part of Cuarto azul, the fourth album by Aitana, the song coexisted at first with the promotional singles Segundo Attempt and 6 de Febrero. Months later, TikTok and the Spanish charts made it a massive success. And after the World Cup 2026, when Spain lifted the Cup, the song has taken the leap that few songs achieve: returning to Spotify's Global Top more than a year after leaving the studio.

The figures after the world title

According to tracking by Kworb —which compiles public data from Spotify charts—, Superestrella entered the Global Top 200 for the first time on July 19, 2026 (position 157) and reached its best global position the next day: #69, with around 1.66 million daily views on July 20. Jenesaispop calculates a rise of 88 positions in 24 hours, the largest rise among the songs that reacted to the celebration of the final.

In Spain, the song is at #4 in Spotify's Top 50 on that same date — a territory where it had already been #1 at the beginning of 2026. Outside the Iberian market, the Latin American push is visible: #8 in Mexico, #2 in Ecuador, #11 in Chile, #11 in Peru or #37 in Argentina on the day of July 20, according to Kworb.

From album “filler” to La Roja soundtrack

GQ España reconstructs an unusual trajectory in pop: a song that did not follow the script of the launch single, that fans pushed on networks, that surpassed 217 million streams and 500 million uses on TikTok, and which ended up playing in the team's locker room - according to El País, cited by Jenesaispop - until it became a sign of victory in the tournament.

Marca documents the sustained growth during the World Cup: from some 220,000 daily views in Spain in mid-June to more than 300,000 before the final, with an increase of close to 40% in one month. For a song with more than a year in the catalog, continuing to rise is exceptional.

At the celebration in Cibeles, Aitana herself joked calling it “a bit of a meme” — but the streaming data leaves no room for irony: it is, according to the specialized press, the artist's biggest solo hit internationally, without having been conceived as the main single.

Global Top 40?

Headlines are circulating that bring Superstar closer to the top 40 in the world. Kworb data places the peak at 69th place in the Global Top 200 (not the top 40). It does appear in high areas of national charts in Latin America—for example, near the top 40 in Panama or Peru on July 20—but Spotify's global ranking, as of the date of this article, has not crossed that barrier. The real milestone is something else: entering and climbing the global chart more than a year after launch, boosted by a sporting event.
