Xiaomi Mijia Monitor Light Bar 2: lamp for flat and curved monitors for about $39

The second generation of the Mijia bar arrives through crowdfunding in China on July 15: 108 full-spectrum LEDs, Ra 96, up to 1,800 lux, cornering clip 1000R–1800R and wireless dial with HyperOS Connect. Price: 259 ¥ (~$39).

Xiaomi renews one of its most popular desktop peripherals: the Mijia Monitor Light Bar 2 is a light bar that hangs above the monitor to illuminate the desktop without dazzling or reflecting on the screen. The tech leaker Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) summarized it in The official announcement comes via Gizmochina: crowdfunding on Youpin from July 15, 2026.

«Xiaomi has come up with a new monitor light that works with both curved and flat monitors. 108 full-spectrum LED chips, 20.8-degree asymmetrical shielding angle, Ra 96 color accuracy rating, up to 1,800 lux brightness, wireless control dial… priced at 259 yuan (about $39).»

What changes compared to the first generation

The original Mijia Monitor Light Bar (448 mm, Ra 95, up to 32 mm monitor thickness) became the economical alternative to premium bars like BenQ ScreenBar. The series 2 lengthens the bar to 50 cm, goes up to 108 customized LEDs, improves the color rendering index to Ra 96 and – most strikingly – debuts a clamp that grips curvatures from 1000R to 1800R and screens from 5 to 65 mm thickness, according to Gizmochina.

In the first generation, Xiaomi already promoted asymmetrical light to reduce reflections (Official FAQ), but gen 2 refines the design with a protection angle of 20.8° that limits the beam to the desktop —Xiaomi describes it as “light without visible glare”—and promises brightness above the AA standard for reading lamps.

Specifications that matter on the desktop

  • Full spectrum: 108 LED chips designed to mimic morning light and reduce harmful blue light (Gizmochina).
  • Color: Ra 96, R9 95, CQS 98 and Rf 97 — useful if you work with design or review prints under the same light.
  • Brightness: 1,100 to 1,800 lux depending on whether you mount the bar 40, 45 or 50 cm from the desk — notably above the ~545 lux measured on Gen 1 by third parties (Home Office Research).
  • Control: Wireless dial — rotate adjusts brightness; Press and rotate changes color temperature; presets for work, study or relaxation.
  • Smart home: integration with HyperOS Connect for scenes and automation with the Xiaomi ecosystem.

For whom does it make sense?

If you work remotely at night or share a monitor with a table lamp that generates reflections, a screen bar is the cleanest accessory: it frees up space and focuses the light where you write. Gen 2 is aimed at those who have a curved gaming monitor (1000R–1800R) and could not use the first Mijia well, officially limited to screens up to 32 mm and smooth curves.

At $39 in Chinese crowdfunding, it follows the Xiaomi philosophy: mid-high range specifications at an accessible gadget price. Gen 1 competes with bars from $80–120; If the series 2 maintains assembly quality, it will be difficult to ignore against BenQ or Quntis - although we will have to wait for independent reviews of the clamp in aggressive corners.

Price and availability

Crowdfunding on Xiaomi Youpin starts on July 15, 2026 at 10:00 (Beijing time) at 259 ¥ (~$39), according to Gizmochina and @stufflistings. For now it is a China launch; Gen 1 later arrived on Amazon and global stores — reasonable to expect import or international announcement within weeks.

In summary: 50 cm bar, 108 LEDs, Ra 96, up to 1,800 lux, universal flat/curved clamp, wireless dial and HyperOS. If you already have the original Mijia and a thin flat monitor, you may not need to jump; If your curved one didn't fit or you want more brightness and color, the series 2 is the logical upgrade.
